We’re looking for an intermediate to senior civil engineer to join our Christchurch team.

This role combines technical design capability with a strong emphasis on construction management, client engagement, and acting as a key travelling resource. Based in Christchurch, you’ll regularly travel solo to project sites in the North Island, representing Bonisch in client-facing environments, overseeing construction progress, and managing contract administration. Your design skills will support these responsibilities, helping to ensure projects are delivered successfully from concept through to completion.

The requirements of the roles are flexible to suit the successful candidate, but may include the following:

• Construction Management and Contract Administration (CMCA) on active projects.

• Acting as a primary client contact on-site and ensuring strong relationships with stakeholders.

• Regular solo travel to North Island development sites to provide on-the-ground oversight and reporting.

• Investigation, planning, and design of 3 waters systems (stormwater attenuation/treatment and on-site wastewater systems valued).

• Geometric design of roading and earthworks.

• Contract management, quality assurance, and procurement, including preparation of specifications and tender documents.

• Project and job management within a small, high-performing branch environment.

To be successful in this role you will also: 

• Have at least with 5 + years working experience, ideally within a consultant or design environment.

• Strong skills in construction management and client liaison.

• Be technically capable and have a proven ability to complete design calculations, and convey your design in technical reports.

• Be proficient in the use of Civil 3D (experience with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM would be a bonus).

• Highly organised, self-sufficient, and comfortable working alone when travelling.
